A .450 (W/R No2 MUSKET) SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL 'MARTINI-ACTION', serial no. 3301,
circa 1900, with round tapering 28in. barrel, block and dove-tailed blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight with provision for four additional folding leaves (one absent) and a fixed standing notch, the left hand side of barrel at breech marked 'FOR W.R. No2 MUSKET CARTRIDGE' and with the triangle trademark to the top, slab-sided receiver signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO LONDON' also with the triangle trademark, lever safe to right hand side, dropping feed-ramp, chequered pistol-grip walnut butt-stock (cracks forming at head), iron heel-plate with central trap-door (small loss at toe), roll ended finger-lever, chequered walnut splinter fore-end and eyelets for sling, traces of finish with some corrosion staining
